Rubio’s “Morning Again In America” Ad Was Made In Canada!

“It’s morning again in America,” a calm narrator says as an idyllic scene of a boat crossing a harbor plays in Marco Rubio’s latest ad, a darker riff on the classic Ronald Reagan ad.

Sorry about the  earlier typo about Rubio made in Canada, it’s hard to tell them apart!

There are some things that are quintessentially American. A bowl of poutine, while listening to Leonard Cohen or Glass Tiger, or while watching Hockey Night in Canada.

What’s that you say? Those things are Canadian? Yes. And so, apparently, are key images in the new “Morning Again in America” ad from Marco Rubio.

Ronald Reagan’s famous 1984 political ad “Morning in America” instilled optimism with a clever metaphor for national revival.

In an attempt to follow in The Great Communicator’s footsteps, Florida Senator Marco Rubio’s political media team decided to put its own twist on the iconic ad, but it’s not the motivational ad we are all familiar with.

Shots throughout the ad incorporate ShutterStock footage of iconic vistas from Vancouver.

The one in Canada, not the one in Washington, to be clear.

Based on a quick internet search, though, the boat scene in the “Morning Again” is obviously in Vancouver, Canada.

A shot of the ad’s footage on Shutterstock is tagged Vancouver.

And another listing for the video again tags it as Vancouver alone.

If you look more closely, Vancouver’s Harbour CentreLookout Tower is visible in the footage:

Here is the video, if you wish to stomach it…

Rubio’s campaign did not return a request for comment.

“Morning Again In America”

Versus

“Make America Great Again!”

The choice should be clear.
